4. A Silent Voice (2016)

This movie takes us on the journey of a teenager named Shōya Ishida. The story begins when Shōko Nishimiya, a grade school student with impaired hearing, joins the same school as Shōya Ishida. Shōko Nishimiya is bullied mercilessly by him and this might break your hearts!

She transfers herself to another school and this results in Ishida being treated like an outcast for the rest of his school life. Everyone in his class starts to give him the same treatment he gave to Nishimiya.

He loses the ability to make friends and starts thinking that everyone hates him. Years later, Ishida sets out to make amends.

At one point, the massive plot twist in the movie will surprise you so much, that ‘Your Name.’ appears to be 2 different movies in one altogether. This movie is twice the fun, twice the thrill and twice the adventure. Once you watch this one, we are pretty sure it will make it to top 5 of your personal all time best anime movies!

7. The wind rises (2013)

10. Grave of the fireflies (1988)

Grave of the Fireflies is a tragic tale overflowing with sorrow. Dated back to the era of World-war 2 in Japan, a major part of the story is a flashback. A teenage Japanese boy Seita and his sister Setsuko struggle to survive after their home is firebombed during the war.

This movie reminds us how humanity is lost in wartime. This is the only movie that I, a die hard fan of anime, wouldn’t recommend someone for a second watch. Because you just won’t be able to! This movie touches you so deeply that it will make you cry. It will break your heart and you will hold the pain inside you for days. If there is one movie that can stay with you for days, it is this one.
