#1: Donated a hefty sum for Chennai Rain Relief
When Chennai was affected by heavy rains and flood, the actor took a step forward and donated a hefty sum of Rs. 1 Crore to those affected by rain. The actor did so by donating the amount to a trust that was looking after distribution of food items during the calamity.
#2: He overpaid for a jacket! Read why:
While Akshay was carrying out his promotional activities for Entertainment, he attended an event by Youth Organization in Defense of Animals (YODA). During the event, he purchased a Burberry Jacket worth Rs. 1,00,000. What is surprising is that he voluntarily paid Rs. 3,60,000 for the same and the entire amount went as a donation to YODA.
#3:He reduced 50% of his fees for being a brand ambassador of a company:
Akshay Kumar was the brand ambassador of a concentrated food drink mix. On renewal of the contract, the team asked Akshay Kumar if they could reduce his fee since the company had suffered huge losses due to drought that year as the farmers had either lost their crop or they had not received good returns. On listening to their plea, Akshay Kumar not only reduced his fee by 50% from Rs. 10 Crore to Rs. 5 Crore, but also donated about 20% of his earnings (Rs. 90 lakhs) to farmers affected by draught that year.
#4: He auctioned his suits for charity!
The veteran actor auctioned one of his suits he used for his movie ‘Oh My God’ and helped an NGO cover 60% of its cost for funding a pre-primary school. The school required about Rs. 15 Lakhs and the star ensured that they get hold of the same.
#5:When suits weren’t enough, he even donated his voice!
Actors singing in their movies become a big sensation in the B Town, but Akshay Kumar stole the hearts when he sang for a cause! Akshay Kumar sang a Punjabi devotional song titled ‘Nurguun Rakh Liya’ and donated the amount he received for the same to the families affected by the Mumbai train bombings of July 11th, 2016.
#6: Akshay Kumar loves his stuntmen!
Usually, the Khiladi Kumar does his stunts on his own. However, the star has made a pact with the producers that if stuntmen are used in his place for some scenes, the producer shall pay exactly the same amount to them as they would have paid to Akshay Kumar himself. Apart from this, the veteran actor is also working towards providing insurance to all his stuntmen.
#7: Khiladiyo ka Khiladi
While Akshay Kumar was hosting a show called khatron ke khiladi, he asked an eliminated contestant as to what he would have done with the prize money had he won the show. The contestant responded that he would have used the money for father’s cancer operation. Without saying a word further, Akshay Kumar immediately signed a cheque worth Rs. 25 Lakhs to get the treatment done.
#8: The Hospital for the Police!
The Actor hit the headlines for a good cause once again recently when he opened a hospital for the police! The actor who has played the role of a police officer on screen several times took a step further to pay the men in ‘Khakee’ back. The hospital which has been funded by the star aims to provide lodging and medication to police officers and their families at a nominal fee of Rs. 100. In his own words, he believes that this is a way in which he can give the society back whatever he has earned from it.
#9: The Tech Savy Akshay Kumar
Just when one starts thinking that Akshay Kumar has already done too much for the society, he manages to surprise them all by taking a step further. In a unique initiative, the star, in a partnership with Ministry for Home Affairs is building an application to help the martyr’s kin. The app will provide an option to the people to voluntarily donate an amount directly to the martyred army personnel’s family members online. This is indeed a very big step taken by the actor for the families who sacrifice their sons and daughters for the nation’s security.
